We have made it to August and fantasy and “real” MLB teams are in the thick of the playoff push! After taking a little time off after the All-Star break to allow for data to accumulate, we have cooked up a fresh batch of injury reports for you to consult as the season enters this exciting stretch!
I did want to make a note regarding the player consistency report. For those of you who follow my socials (@rjsportsanalytics on Insta!), you will have seen the announcement of two new player metrics: relative FIP (rFIP) and relative wOBA (rwOBA). These two metrics scale their non-relative counterparts to reward or punish players for their consistency relative to the league level of consistency. While these measures are very closely related to the consistency classifications given in the above reports, they aren’t exactly the same, so you may notice slight discrepancies (e.g., Ezequiel Tovar).
